Hi, I’m Madeline—the hands, heart, and nose behind Mad Candle Co. What started as a way to unwind turned into something I never expected: a full-time business fueled by creativity, clean ingredients, and a deep love for scent and storytelling. In the first six months of launching, I sold over 4,500 candles—all hand-poured in my tiny home studio in Eugene, Oregon.

candle FAQ's
-
Most candle wicks are made from cotton or wood. But here’s the catch: pure cotton wicks can’t stand tall on their own, so many big manufacturers add traces of heavy metals to keep them upright (and those end up releasing into your air — not so cozy).
That’s why all of our candles use natural wooden wicks. They burn cleaner, stay perfectly upright, and give off that crackly, cozy flame everyone loves.
-
Unlike paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum and can release toxins and soot when burned, our 100% soy wax burns cleaner, longer, and holds fragrance beautifully. Better for your home, and better for the planet.
-
Our wooden wicks come from responsibly harvested forests, and our supplier partners with Trees for the Future— for every tree used, 1,875 trees are planted in return!
We use 100% soy wax, a renewable and biodegradable resource that burns cleaner and longer than paraffin, making our candles better for your home and the planet.
-
We use the highest quality fragrance oils in the industry, carefully formulated for candles and are safe for everyone — including pets.
Unlike essential oils, which can lose strength or change scent when heated in wax, fragrance oils are designed to throw scent evenly, burn cleanly, and stay true from the first burn to the last.
Plus, our oils are 100% non-toxic. The fragrance oils we use are free of organ toxins, acute toxins, CMRs (carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins), phthalates, and ingredients on the California Prop 65 list — so you can enjoy your clean-burning candle with peace of mind.

4oz Travel Tins last for 15-20 hours and 10oz Glass Jars last for a generous 55-60 hours with a properly trimmed wick.

-
If your candle flickers out, it’s usually because the wick needs a trim. A long or charred wick produces a flame that’s too big or uneven, and the blackened tip can’t draw up wax properly. Trim it to about ¼ inch, and your candle will light easily, burn evenly, and last longer.
